St. Catherine Senior Citizen Charged For Embezzlement Of 56 Million

A retired St. Catherine senior citizen has been slapped with embezzlement Charges following The disappearance of a huge amount of cash from her former place of employment.
The accused is 71-year-old Delcita Batchelor, a retired cashier.
In an article published by The Gleaner on Friday, February 4, it was reported that Batchelor was employed as a senior cashier at the Worthy Park Sugar Estate in Lluidas Vale St. Catherine.
Batchelor worked in the position for over 50 years until her retirement in November of 2021.
After Batchelor retired, an audit of the company’s books was carried out following which the company realized that a whopping $56, 000,000 could not be accounted for.
The police were then called in to investigate and after their investigation was completed, Batchelor, who lives on the property of the sugar estate was arrested, and charges of embezzlement were laid against her.
She is slated to appear in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, to answer to the charges.
