Man Slams Babymother’s Head Into A JUTC Bus
A man was ordered by Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court to compensate for the damages he caused when he brutally pushed his baby mother’s head into a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus.
24-year-old Carvel Campbell pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm last Thursday. The reports are that Campbell hit the complainant in her face with his hand before he pushed her into a JUTC bus, which resulted in her suffering swelling and bruises.
While the complainant requested compensation, she also told Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague she wasn’t seeking a lot being that she and Campbell have two children.
The complainant also said she was leaving it in the hands of the judge to decide the amount, and then Cole-Montague ordered Campbell to pay a total of $90,000, making the first $20,000 payment next month.
The complainant also informed the court that Campbell stalks her at night, waits on her after she leaves work, and he has even made threats to her.
Recounting one of Campbell’s threats, the complainant said, “Him tell me say ‘Me muss make a man shoot out yuh head anyhow yuh go court and mek me get lock up’ and dem summen deh him a tell me Your Honour.”
In the light of hearing Campbell’s threat and the complainant’s concern for her safety, Judge Cole-Montague Ordered that Campbell report to the police three times weekly. Campbell was ordered to cease waylaying the complainant and he was given a daily curfew between 6 a.m and 7:30 p.m. The senior judge also gave an order for fingerprint while Campbell’s next court appearance is set on March 22.
