Jamaican Triple Jumper Gets Four-Year Doping Ban
Sabina Allen, who tested positive for prohibited substances in her urine after winning the triple jump at the Chula Vista Field Festival in California on May 29, 2021, has been given a four-year ban yesterday by an independent arbitrator.
The 27-year-Jamaican triple jumper’s urine sample positively contained phentermine, which is forbidden in the competition and di-hydroxy-LGD-4033, which is always prohibited in the United States doping regulations and World Athletics Anti-Doping rules. While Phentermine is a stimulant, LGD-4033 is a non-specified substance in the class of Anabolic Agent.
According to the decision that was made, the explanations presented by Allen for the substances being in her system were not enough “to establish that her use was unintentional”.
It was also determined by the arbitrator that the supplement Allen handed in for review containing the LGD-4033, had signs of likely being manipulated which were not done from the manufacturing process.
The decision was made with the help of law enforcement from the Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Act (RADA), as well as “Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, and other federal agencies,” which were all credited in a statement made on June 9 by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) CEO Travis Tygart.
RADA became effective in December 2020 and it gives American prosecutors authority to act on those who cheat in sporting events.
Allen, whose ban began on June 24, 2021, lives and trains in the united states. Her four-year ban will end in 2025. Allen, who is a former Vere Technical athlete, competed in the 2012 Carifta Games in Bermuda and gave Jamaica a victorious win in the Under-20 triple jump.
