According to the mother, law enforcement officers were in the area conducting an operation when the residents on the street were instructed to head home. She stated that in following their directive, she was inhumanely attacked by one of the lawmen even though she explained to him that she lives down the road and not in the direction that they initially instructed everyone to go.

Further detailing her ordeal, she expressed that she was pushed, as well as “drape up” by one of the officers. As a result, she said that she reacted and “flash him off” which subsequently led to her being hit with a baton on her left hand and then being pepper-sprayed by another one of the officers.

Head of the Kingston Central Police, Superintendent Beresford Williams reported that the police were preserving the contents from an active crime scene when residents began removing evidence and hurling insults. He added that they were then given instructions that were not followed, which resulted in the force being used by the lawmen to control the situation.

The mother is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday, November 21 to answer to the charge of assaulting a policeman.
