Earlier in the year, during the aftermath of the January six riot, former president Donald Trump was banned from the Twitter platform by the platform’s previous owners. Trump was also banned from using multiple other social media apps used by the masses.
However, the new owner of Twitter, multi-billionaire Elon Musk, is giving Trump his chance at being able to use the app once more. He had spoken out about his inclination to have Trump return to twitter before, but this is the first time Musk has taken any action to see it through since acquiring Twitter.
On Friday, November 18, Musk uploaded a poll to his Twitter account seeking the feedback of others through a majority rules vote on whether the former president should be allowed a pardon to use the platform. The poll asked the users to vote “Yes” for reinstatement, or “No” to leave things as is.
After the poll was posted, Musk also uploaded the words, “Vox Populi, Vox Dei”, which is Latin for “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”
The poll will be up for a period of 24 hours and will be concluded on Sunday evening. The poll has already garnered a response from over 1.4 million Twitter users.
The results are pending.
