Reigning Wanda Diamond League 200m champion Shericka Jackson took to social media on Friday to share a celebratory message following her 2023 Diamond League opening race in Doha, Qatar.
Elite athletes from around the globe kicked off their Diamond League campaign at the Seashore Group Doha Meeting, which was staged at the Qatar Sports Club earlier today. Jackson and Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith were favourites for the women’s 100m final, but with all eyes on Jackson and Asher-Smith, America’s Sha’Carri Richardson pulled off quite the upset win, setting a new world-leading time and meet record in 10.76 seconds.
Jackson, who has a personal best of 10.71 seconds and a season’s best of 10.82 seconds, finished second during today’s meet with a time of 10.85 seconds. With 13 meetings left to go in the elite athletics invitational competition, Jackson will be looking ahead to her upcoming races and is keeping an optimistic attitude.
