It is important to note that this study provided is primarily talking about non-immigrant B-Visas, which include B1 visas for business purposes and B2 visas for tourism and other categories of non-monetary activities.

False information or misrepresentation, an incomplete or inaccurate form, insufficient financial proof, and no ties to the home country are the most common reasons for visa refusals.

From 2.7 million in 2021 to over 6.8 million in 2022, the number of non-immigrant visas approved has immensely increased. A report published by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs reports that over 9.5 million non-immigrant credentials were issued in 2017, and more than 550,000 immigrant visas.
