Nearly twenty years after the now-infamous failed clash between dancehall artistes Ninjaman and Vybz Kartel at Sting 2003, a still aggrieved Ninjaman is bashing Kartel for physically attacking him on stage.
Sting, once one of Jamaica’s pre-eminent stage shows, grew to immense popularity with its celebrated and, at times, controversial clashes. One such fateful confrontation that would drastically change the event unfolded amid an unsanctioned clash between then-dancehall newcomer Kartel and veteran Ninja.
Dubbing the Murder Dem deejay “the germs,” Kartel called out his musical elder on stage during his set, and a dauntless Ninjaman would later enter to clash with the young artiste. As the confrontation intensified, a physical altercation erupted between both men, with a member of Kartel’s entourage getting involved.
Ninjaman was left with a bloodied nose after being hit by Kartel and had to be shielded by security.
Stating that no caption was necessary, On Tuesday, Ninja shared old video coverage of the incident during which a woman bashed the artiste.
“Mi affi bun out Kartel fi weh him gwaan wid Ninja Man [ … ] idiot thing kartel gwaan wid… Mi a one a him fans but Idiot ting him gwaan wid and mi nah support it,” the woman stated.
The fight was later dubbed the lowest point in the event’s history by Sting founder Isiah Laing. Ninjaman, who held the point of view that the clash and the fight were a conspiracy against him, has apparently still not forgiven Kartel for the incident despite his later apology.

According to Laing, the only clash that was sanctioned for that night was between Ninjaman and Bounty Killer. The ex-cop reportedly stated that Bounty sent Kartel to clash with Ninja because he got cold feet.
