Chelsea Completes the Signing of Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards
Following Their pre-contract with Jamaican Phoenix Football Academy member Dujuan ‘Whisper’ Richards, English football club Chelsea FC have announced that Richards will be joining the club next season after his 18th birthday.
Phoenix Football Academy president Craig Buttler announced Richard’s initial contract signing with the club in March, following rumours that the 17-year-old was heading to the English Premier League.
Chelsea announced that they had completed the signing of the Kingston College (KC) star player via Twitter on Saturday.
The West London-based club highlighted Richards’s stellar performance at KC, noting the 31 goals and 19 assists he had registered during the 2022 Manning Cup football season. Chelsea previously announced the signing of Ecuadorian player Kendry Paez, who too will be joining the club after he turns 18.
Richards made his senior international debut for Jamaica with the Reggae Boyz against Trinidad and Tobago earlier this year and is set to compete in his first CONCACAF Gold Cup later tonight with the national team against the United States.
According to Buttler, who shared the news on his Instagram page, Richards attracted top clubs with his exceptional skills and immense potential, and he praised the youngster’s lightning-fast speed, precise ball control, and razor-sharp instincts.
