King of Reggae Bob Marley not only lives on in his music, but he also continues to set new records. Despite his death in 1981, Bob Marley’s legacy remains unbeatable, as one of his albums has now spent 800 weeks on the Billboard 200.
The album in question is Legend, which features the greatest hits ever to be made by Bob Marley and the Wailers. The project was released in 1984 and conquered many milestones throughout its years on the charts. Almost a decade ago, the album was certified 15-times platinum by the RIAA for moving at least 15 million copies in America.
Legend, one of the bestselling albums in America, is currently at No. 106 on the Billboard 200, marking 800 weeks on the chart. This milestone is incredibly rare for albums to reach.
The first album to reach 800 weeks on the chart was The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd, a rock band, surpassed the number and is heading towards 1000 weeks. The albums are ranked based on a technique that incorporates both sales and streaming activity in the U.S.
With the impact Bob Marley’s music continues to make, there is no questioning why the Rastafarian is classified as one of the bestselling artistes in history.
