19YO Killed, Dismembered and Dumped in River by Man She Met Online
The dismembered body of a 19-year-old girl, Sheryl Turner, was discovered in a river in Louisiana U.S.A after leaving home to meet up and stay with a man that she met over the internet.
The incident took place sometime between December 31, 2023, when Turner decided to leave home, and January 24, 2024, when the teen’s upper body was found in the river.
According to Turner’s twin sister, she had left home without notifying anyone of her destination after packing up her belongings, that was the last time the sisters communicated.
After weeks of no communication, reports state that her family became worried when they got a message from a friend of Turner’s that entailed alarming information.
Reportedly, Turner met a man online, 29-year-old Anthony Holland, and developed a relationship with him that turned romantic. The teenager then left New Iberia (her home) in December to stay with Holland.
Almost a month later, a report by a boater to the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office led to the torso of Turner being found in the Ouachita River in Louisiana.
Follow up investigations led to a search of Holland’s home and the police stated that “forensic evidence of a crime of violence” was uncovered and he was arrested. The police also reported that Holland confessed to killing Turner at his house, chopping her up, and disposing of her body in the river.
The arrest came three months after Turner’s body was found and Holland was booked and charged with second-degree murder. This took place on April 23, 2024.
