Manchester United Wins FA Cup Final: Beating Manchester City 2-1
The final of the Football Association Challenge Cup aka FA Cup was played on May 25 at Wembley in London, England between Manchester United and Manchester City. Manchester United won the match against their rivals, beating the 2023/24 Premier League champions against the odds.
The game’s first half surprised most people in the footballing world, 19-year-old Alejandro Garnacho Scored first for United in the 30th minute after a mixup at the back between City’s goalkeeper and a defender.
Manchester United secured a two-goal lead after another 19-year-old scored, Kobbie Boateng Mainoo found the back of the net from an exquisite past from the caption and Portuguese footballer Bruno Fernandes in the 39th minute, “classic vision” a commentator labelled the pass.

Manchester City made two changes at the start of the second half Akanji on and N. Aké off also Doku on and M. Kovacic Off. The changes seemed to be effective with City coming close to scoring in the 54th minute after Haland struck the bar.
Manchester City next made a change in the 56th minute as they persuaded a first off of the match, Kevin De Bruyne went off for Julián Álvarez. United went on to make multiple changes of their own.
“They are certainly rattled,” outlined one of the match commentators in the 83rd minute as the match stood at 2-0 in favour of Manchester United despite City holding an impressive 72% of the possession.
City scored in the 86th minute via a shot from Doku, beating United’s goalkeeper at the near post. Seven minutes were added on at the end of the 90, the match ended 2-1.
