American rapper Rich Homie Quan, born Dequantes Lamar passed away at the age of 34 at his home in Atlanta on Thursday. The tragic news began circulating on Thursday as a rumour, however, a family member later confirmed the passing to TMZ.
Early reports suggest the rapper might have passed away from a overdose, but his cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Several notable figures in the hip-hop community, including Adam22, Boosie, and Jacquees, have publicly acknowledged the loss.
Rich Homie Quan, who was born on October 4, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia, first gained prominence in the music industry after a brief stint as a college baseball player and serving 15 months in prison. His time behind bars motivated him to take music seriously, leading to his breakthrough in 2012.
In 2013, Quan scored his first major hit with ‘Type of Way‘ from his mixtape Still Goin In: Reloaded. The track propelled him to fame, and he continued to make waves with his gold-selling single ‘Walk Thru’ featuring Problem the following year.
Ironically, the rapper’s latest post on Instagram, shared just three days ago to his 3.2 million followers, carried the caption, “Vision clear even through the BS,” adding a poignant layer to the shocking news of his reported passing.
