Malie Donn to Drop ‘Don Julio’ Music Video and ‘The Grand Rising’ EP

St. Catherine Dancehall star Malie Donn is set to drop a new song titled “Don Julio,” on November 1 via VPAL Music. The hardcore deejay is also gearing up to release the Grand Rising EP which will feature collaborations with Squash, Armanii, and Byron Messia.
The EP will include the track “Don Julio,” produced by Dan Sky and Attomatic, which captures the thrill of success and recounts Malie’s indulgent experiences, all set against an immersive, shadowy beat.
Following the success of his hit single “V6,” which has amassed tens of millions of streams and garnered attention through standout performances at Reggae Sumfest and 4 Shooters Only’s “From the Block” series, Jamaican artist Malie Donn continues to elevate his presence on the Dancehall scene.
The title “Don Julio” pays homage to the tequila brand that has surged in popularity across the U.S., often mentioned by artists like Drake and Travis Scott, making it a staple in hip hop and youth culture. The track embodies a cultural crossover, blending Caribbean rhythms with hip hop aesthetics, as Malie reflects on the joys of fame and a carefree lifestyle while remaining true to his Dancehall roots.
As noted by Billboard’s Kyle Denis, “V6” is one of the contemporary Dancehall hits that have made significant global waves. “Don Julio” continues this momentum, showcasing Malie’s signature confidence and flair while highlighting the lavish experiences that accompany his rise to fame.
The Fuegoo-directed video captures the vibrant energy of Times Square during the Mexican Day Parade, creating a lively backdrop for Malie’s celebration of success. Featuring a cameo from viral sensation Holli TV, known for his Don Julio-themed content, the visuals enhance the track’s themes, seamlessly merging humour and swagger.
Malie Donn, born Kimalie Hylton currently has over 200k Instagram followers and 300k monthly Spotify listeners, his ascent has been rapid. As anticipation builds for his upcoming full-length project under VPAL Music, set for release later in 2024.
