Alkaline Doubles Down on Not Paying ‘Homage’

Alkaline released ‘Accomplishment’ early Friday morning, a day after releasing the music video for his other song titled ‘Blanco’. ‘Accomplishment’ is a song used to highlight his success in music and his loner ways.
The track comes less than a week after Vybz Kartel talked on the vendetta deejay not giving him props for seemingly using some of his style and persona in the early stages of his career.
Notabily, when questioned about Vybz Kartel in the past, Alkaline admitted that the Portmore deejay is good at his craft but was not an influence on his career, a comment that has caused many debates over the years.
“Gi mi self homage… yeah we glad seh we can dweet like this… check the money weh a mek a nuff cuddn’t stay calm,” are some of the standout lyrics in ‘Accomplishment’ as he doubles down on not giving others homage.
In the recent interview with Anthony Miller of Entertainment Report, Kartel was asked if Alkaline was to admit publicly that he helped to influence his career, whether or not that would make a difference, Vybz Kartel responded, saying, “Not his career, every career, the same way how I’m not afraid to say, Buju Banton a mi biggest inspiration, Ninja Man.”
Kartel went on to share his thoughts on the deejay at the moment, “Everybody know Kartel set the trend… There is no bad blood either, i’m a grown man, i’m a changed man… we don’t hold grudges.”

“Yo nuh hear wah gwaan?” questions Alkaline in the new song, seemingly pointing to the resurrection of the topic.
