AceGawd To Spend First Christmas Without Father Who Was One of His Biggest Fans

Dancehall artiste AceGawd recently experienced a profound loss as his father, one of his biggest fans, passed away due to an illness. The father of the deejay, Clifford McLarty, was a man who enjoyed classical reggae music from esteemed artistes such as Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.

However, when it comes to dancehall, he could not get enough of his son’s music despite the explicit lyrics and inappropriate nature of his songs. This was one of the memories AceGawd, legally named Sadeki McLarty, reflected on when he discussed his father’s passing with the media. The young deejay spoke highly of his father, who died on September 11.

One of the memories AceGawd spoke of was that McLarty, who was born in Porus, Manchester, would proudly share his songs on his Whatsapp status. “Some of the songs are explicit, but he would post them the same way and never care who was in his contacts seeing it. He loved his old-time music, like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh songs, but mi can say I was his favourite dancehall artiste,” Ace Gawd told the Jamaica Star.

Additionally, AceGawd revealed that all three of his father’s children adore their father, who was a Guardsman Group security guard. He was also recognised for being a loving father who frequently gave words of wisdom and encouragement.

A fine example would be how McLarty taught him the value of patience and encouraged AceGawd to pursue his dreams. Such goals now include showcasing his versatility and increasing his visibility in the entertainment industry. The deejay hopes that he can achieve this through his nearly finished seven-track debut album, Awake 3am. He continues to work on the project, which is slated to be released in January.

Speaking of his distress, AceGawd said, “Naturally, he is missed, and I am still grieving as he was a very good father. He was one of my biggest supporters and not just me, but all of his three children.”

Sadly, the father-son trip that the two had planned to visit Ace Gawd’s sister in Canada never came to pass, for on October 22, McLarty was laid to rest on a family plot. Although they had previously travelled separately, this would have been their first time travelling together.

The performer recalled that he and his family had a typical but enjoyable Christmas tradition, which involved the family getting together for quality time as they enjoyed cake and sorrel. It appears that this will be the first Christmas without his father.
