Ackera Nugent Clocks Meet Record at Diamond League Debut in Poland: Video

After a disappointing finish in the final of the Paris Olympics, finishing 8th, Jamaican 22-year-old female athlete Ackera Nugent returned on Sunday with a record-breaking time at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland which was her debut Diamond League event.
In the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, the Jamaican clocked 12.37s in the 100m hurdles which turned out to be a new meet record. Notably, Nugent ran on what looks like an injured leg having limped off in the heat before the final. Nugent was also limped after winning the final.
Nugent who is the 2021 World Athletics U20 Champion in the 100m hurdles also clocked a meet record in 2023 at the John McDonnell Invitational in the USA representing Arkansas University, she finished the race in 11.13 seconds to win the women’s 100 metres.
She has been on a trail-blazing path, Nugent is the second-fastest woman in the world this season over the 100m hurdles distance, clocking a PB of 12.28 seconds in Jamaica, months ago. She also holds the national record over the distance and is currently the ninth-fastest woman in history over the distance.
Her next race will be at the Rome Golden Gala on Friday, August 30.
