Andrew Hudson Beats Yohan Blake In 200m Final

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association’s (JAAA) National Championships which took place at the National Stadium in Kingston from Thursday, June 23 to Sunday, June 26, ended with the final of event number 33, the Men’s 20+ 200 Meter Dash Senior Division at 7:15 pm.

The qualifying contenders for the final of the 20+ 200-meter dash were as follows; Yohan Blake, Andrew Hudson, Rasheed Dwyer, Nigel Ellis, Jazeel Murphy, Antonio Watson, Mario Heslop and Ricquan Graham.

The final race of the day had seasoned athlete Johan Blake in lane 4 as the favourite, however, Andrew Hudson on the outside in lane 6 proved too fast for the veteran.

After a fast start, Hudson came off the bend in front of Blake and Dwyer for the win in 20.10 seconds with Blake in second place with a run time of 20.31 seconds.

After the high Blake was on in the prelims of the 20+ 200 meter dash, fans expected a win. A fan of the sprinter on a YouTube live of the race stated “they told me Yohan was back? Maybe not”. Both the fans and the sprinter were left disappointed

During the interview after the race, Hudson said that he was not surprised by the result of the race and he was well prepared.
