Andrew Tate Charged with Rape and Human Trafficking

Following his arrest in December 2022, controversial social media personality Andrew Tate has been charged by Romanian authorities with rape, human trafficking, and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

Reports state that Tate and his brother, Tristan, were charged on Tuesday morning pertaining to alleged offences against seven women who were reported to have been recruited by the brothers, who used false assurances of love and marriage to entice them.

Two other suspects have also been charged in relation to the case.

It has been alleged that Tate and his co-accused have been trafficking women in Romania, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The women were allegedly used to create pornographic clips, which were distributed on websites such as the adult content subscription service OnlyFans.

According to the BBC, 60 days have been allotted for a Romanian judge to review the case files before the matter is sent to trial, which reports state is expected to take several years.

Following their arrest in Bucharest last year, Tate and Tristan were placed under house arrest in March. The brothers have denied all allegations against them.
