After a strong start from the Manchester side, Rashford gave United an early lead with a spectacular dribble and finish in the bottom corner. It was the forward’s ninth goal in nine games since the ELP resumed following the World Cup break.

It wasn’t long after before Arsenal levelled through Nketiah, whose fierce close-range header added another goal to his tally of 18 in his last 26 starts for the club, an excellent run that included 12 in his 13 starts at the London Stadium.

Bukayo Saka’s curling shot from long range eight minutes into the second half gave Mikel Arteta’s side the lead for the first time.

After six minutes, United was back on level terms as Lisandro Martinez scored his first goal for the Red Devils, a fantastic looping header. However, there was late heroics from Nketiah as he unorthodoxly converted Martin Odegaard’s mishit shot, and the Emirates stood up in a frenzy of celebration.
