Asafa Powell and Wife Alyshia Give Out ‘Care Packages’ in Clarendon: Video
With help from several well-known local companies, Asafa and his wife Alyshia Miller-Powell put on a donation endeavour which had them loading their vehicles with goodies and driving off to the countryside to assist people affected by Hurricane Beryl in rural Clarendon.
“We got a lot a boxes,” stated Asafa at one point in the video as he proceeded to show some of the items that they will be giving away which included toilet papers, Juices, mackerels, corned beef, nuddles, water, soaps and more.
The couple were helped by Sunshines Snacks, DFL Importers, HerFlow Foundation and Food Service JA(Miracle Corp).
Footage from the endeavour was uploaded to YouTube on Saturday, July 27, showing the couple carrying out the good deed. In the Vlog, while on their way to the locations, Alyshia revealed that, this will be the first of many upcoming giveaways and the couple is looking to launch a charitable foundation soon.
Alyshia highlights that via their foundation, they will be able to give back more. Asafa Powell also detailed that after the foundation is launched, they should be able to raise funds on their own instead of asking for donations to carry out the deed.
The couple stopped at multiple locations on the day and the journey took them into the night. Notably, many places they visited did not have electricity. After carrying out the endeavour, Asafa said, “it felt good”, in a video he recorded the next day.
