Baby Cham And Bounty Killer Drop Teaser For New EP
Baby Cham and Bounty Killer have dropped a short teaser for their upcoming collaborative EP featuring the song “BLOOD CLXXT”, which will be released on Friday, August 5.
BLOOD CLXXT dubbed a song for the people, is not only a collaboration between the two legendary Dancehall artistes but a project the pair will be teaming up with Madhouse Records to create. Both Baby Cham and Bounty Killer have worked with the record label extensively throughout their careers, producing some of their most notable hits under the Dave Kelly-led label.
In the teaser, Bounty Killer said he thought it was the right time to release the record with Cham and went on to praise the longevity of the label and Kelly. Kelly will be honoured at this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest, and Baby Cham and Bounty Killer will be headlining the tribute along with Beenie Man, Wayne Wonder, Spragga Benz, Mr Easy and Frisco Kidd.
Dave Kelly founded Madhouse Records with Janet Davidson in 1992 and is still considered one of the greatest Dancehall producers ever. Some of his notable riddims are the Joyride riddim that featured Lady Saw’s Sycamore Tree and Tanya Stephens Yuh Nuh Ready Fi Dis Yet, the Stink riddim that featured Captain Barkey’s Go-Go Wine and Beenie Man’s hit Old Dog, which was written by Kelly.
Cham and Dave Kelly are long-time collaborators, with the artiste first auditioning for the producer while he was still a student at Calabar High, then years later going on to create the hit track Ghetto Story together. Baby Cham has said he is looking forward to performing along with Bounty killer at the tribute on Saturday, July 23.
BlOOD CLXXT is very reminiscent of Kelly’s 90’s hits and since the release of the teaser excitement for the track with Cham and Bounty Killer has been steadily rising, with American producer DJ Khaled expressing his admiration for the song after Bounty killer played it for him. Khaled took to Instagram to praise the track and said, “@grunggaadzilla @thecham I NEED THIS ON DUB PLEASE !!!!”. To which Baby Cham replied, “DUB LOADING!!!”
