Reports state that Devon was left with his brother as his mother, Ann-Marie Williams, was scheduled to work the night shift in the janitorial department at the Spanish Town Hospital. Upon her return the next day, she was informed that the infant was at a neighbour’s house.

According to Williams, she found Devon unresponsive on a bed with a large swelling on his head. Williams rushed Devon to the hospital, but the infant died three days later at the Bustamante Hospital for Children.

Devon’s father, Devon Brooks Sr, shared with the Weekend Star that his son’s post-mortem was conducted on Monday, revealing that he had sustained a fractured skull as well as fractures to his ribs. Lamenting his son’s death, Brooks said that the extent of Devon’s injuries was not normal.

“The autopsy report say ‘multiple injuries’, and mi know mi likkle son suffer and feel all of that before him dead. It’s really hard. No parent should have to bury their child,” Brooks stated.

Brooks disclosed that even if the baby had somehow survived his injuries, he would not stand a chance to live a normal life as he would have been paralysed.
