Dancehall veteran Beenie Man shares some advice to the current crop of dancehall artistes and ways to improve the genre; the King Of The Dancehall deejay suggests that dancehall entertainers should squash their beef, jump on the same rhythm and unite for the betterment of dancehall.
The 2001 Grammy winner recently sat down with veteran host Winford Williams on his program Onstage, where he expressed his frustration with the disunity and infighting in dancehall music. Beenie Man pointed to the recently renewed friendship between Spice and D’Angel as an excellent example of what needs to happen more in dancehall.
“That is what supposed to happen in dancehall music at all times, every artiste supposed to be friends because you can not a deal wid social media and nah socialize, don’t make nuh sense yuh zimi, so the matter is to socialize, is talk to everyone even if you an a man have a beef musically,” Beenie Man advised.
The veteran entertainer even points to his current cordial relationship with his long-time bitter rival, Bounty Killer, “Because a that me use to do to Bounty enuh hail him so them feel seh me a provoke him, you caa provoked a man if you a call to him that nuh make no sense u zimi, cause me and him nuh enemy, we just have separate careers,” Beenie explained.
