Fulham gained their first victory of the Premier League campaign after beating Brentford 3-2 in their match on Saturday, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid scoring the fastest goal of the season and setting the tone for the team’s win over Brentford.
With players scrambling for possession of the ball in the penalty area, Jamaica national player Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored the opening goal of the game, saving a missed shot onto the crossbar from teammate Jay Stansfield and securing Fulham’s first goal 44 seconds into the match. With an assist from Andreas Pereira, 27-year-old midfielder João Palhinha scored Fulham’s second goal with a stunning header in the 20th minute. There was only a little over a minute left in the first half of the match when Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard secured his club’s first goal of the day in minute 44.
Brentford appeared to be on the rebound in the first minutes of the second half after forward Ivan Toney scored an equalizer. But celebrations were cut short with the referee declaring Toney’s goal offside. Toney would later bounce back in the 71st minute and provide Brentford with a well-needed second goal. However, Aleksandar Mitrovic, who was also denied a goal earlier in the game, provided Fulham with a winning header in the final minute, ending the game 3-2.
