Canadian Prime Minister Heads to Jamaica for a Family Vacation
The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, reportedly will head to Jamaica to spend a week-long vacation with his family.
The visit to the island is scheduled to take place, within a few days, after Christmas has passed.
Previously, Trudeau was found to be in contravention of the conflict-of-interest rules in the year 2017 after he went on a trip to the Bahamas, on the Aga Khan private islands. Prime Minister Trudeau is required to fly via the Royal Canadian Air Force plane, even if the purpose for travel is for personal reasons, as a security protocol.
The Office of the Prime Minister relays that Trudeau will be in round-the-clock communication with the city of Ottawa (that capital city of Canada) for however long he is away on vacation to remain abreast of any issues or updates.
In order to ensure that proper procedures are followed, it was also mentioned that the federal ethics commissioner was contacted in advance of the trip.
