Chris Rock Will Not Press Charges Against Will Smith, “They’re brothers” Says Diddy

The Los Angeles Police Department has issued a statement confirming that comedian Chris Rock is not pressing charges against Will Smith for the unexpected slap that Will fired him on stage at this year’s Oscars in response to the joke Chris made about Jada Pinkett Smith.

Chris Rock’s joke at the Sunday night’s ceremony regarding Jada’s shaved head was not well received by Jada as she was seen rolling her eyes. The ‘I Am Legend’ actor also didn’t take the joke about his wife starring GI Jane 2 lightly which was when he got up on the stage and slapped Chris.

The GI Jane joke was made in reference to Jada having a bald head when Jada is actually suffering from Alopecia, which she had openly spoken about in the past and described her medical condition as once being “terrifying”.

Shortly after when Will returned to the stage to accept the Oscar for best actor, he gave an emotional speech in tears, and he apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees but did not issue an apology to Chris Rock.

Many people online, who have been condemning Will’s actions, expressed that Will should be charged with assault.

However, Chris Rock does not share the same opinion as the rest of the outraged internet users because on Monday LAPD confirmed that he declined to file a police report.

In a statement issued to CNN, the LAPD said, “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program. The incident involved one individual slapping another. The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”

Amidst the internet frenzy, 23-year-old Jaden Smith tweeted shortly after the incident “And that’s how we do it!” Adding in a since-deleted post he said, “My Dads Speech Made Me Cry.”

Strangely, hours before the incident Will Smith seemed to have predicted something might happen in an Instagram post that was ultimately proven to be true.

The post that showed a video of himself and his wife in their red carpet attire was captioned with the words, “Me ‘n @jadapinkettsmith got all dressed up to choose chaos.”

According to Puff Daddy, the two comedians have since squashed the issue, “that’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Diddy said. “It’s all love. They’re brothers,” he concluded.
