Costa Rica Football Team Under Suspicion For Allegedly Playing Reggae Boyz With Covid-19 Positive Players

The General Secretary of the Jamaica Football Federation, Dalton Wint has released a report stating that 3 officials and 3 players from the Costa Rican National Team that played against the Reggae Boyz on Wednesday have been tested positive for Covid-19.

According to Wint, there is no knowledge on whether the positively tested persons on the Costa Rican team were on the field in the match but based on what Wint is claiming, at least one or two players who tested positive might have been on the field.

Where a situation of that nature is concerned, the General Secretary of the JFF made it clear that those actions would have been a breach of the rules governing the game.

As a way forward, investigations are currently been carried out, and Wint has spoken to the fact that as a recourse, there could be a rematch or the awarding of the 3 points to Jamaica. however, that still would not save the Reggae Boyz since in that case, they would have only reached an amount of 10 points which would not be enough for them to get one of the qualifying positions to this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

The game on Wednesday was played at the National Stadium, where Costa Rica won the match by one goal to nil.
