Kingston native, Ding Dong believes he’s the most consistent Dancehall artiste over the past decade, in a new live-chat, the dancer-turn-deejay asked, “Which Artiste from 2015 Consistent like me?”. He made sure to mention that he’s not trying to shade others because he “love and respect every artiste”.

According to Ding Dong whose birth name is Kemar Christopher Dwaine Ottey, he’s “not everybody favourite artiste” as he alluded to the fact that he does not have a huge fan base when compared to some other Dancehall artistes.

Nevertheless, his songs are usually loved by fans of most artistes, causing his hit songs to last longer. He highlights being loved by many people because he does not have a feud with their favourite artiste.

Another point he made was that the other top artistes, in most cases, can’t make a hit song without singing about crime and violence, “tell mi which one?” he asked. At one point he also expanded the date to “2005” with regards to being consistent with hit songs.

Notably, Shenseea, Jada Kingdom, Masicka, Dexta Daps and Squash have also been consistent in the past decade. On the other hand, Popcaan, Alkaline, Spice, Vybz Kartel and Mavado have been less consistent with hits in the last 10 years despite dominating prior.

Ding Dong’s most popular song on YouTube is his 2017 hit song ‘LEBEH LEBEH’ which has racked up over 15 million views on the platform, however, it’s safe to say that all the artistes listed above have at least two or three songs with bigger numbers on Youtube.

However, numbers aside, Ding Dong can be considered to be a true Dancehaller in every sense with the fact that he’s a dancer, a deejay and very active in the streets at Dancehall events. He is also listened to and loved by the young and the old, making his music eligible to play at any event locally.

Before ending the chat, he highlighted that he would be releasing a musical project soon. He also talked about some of the issues in Dancehall and people being in the business for the “money” and not for the love of the music/culture.
