Dr Jephthah Out On Bail Pending Appeal Hearing After Being Sentenced To 6 Months In Prison

[Sharingbuttons]Medical doctor Jephthah Ford was sentenced to six months in prison in the St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday by Parish Judge Simone Wolfe Reece.

However, he is out on bail in the amount of $1 million pending the hearing of an appeal against his conviction and sentence.
After hearing character evidence from Ford’s lawyer Bert Samuels, Reece Wolfe said that she took a number of things into consideration before handing down the sentence.
Ford was found guilty of two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice in August.
He was caught on camera offering monetary bribe to an officer, after police had seized US$533,886 and $1.3 million in cash from two Surinamese, Roshen Daniels and Murvin Reingould.
They were later taken to an apartment, where the police seized a further US$3,000, $700 and 55 Surinamese dollars.
