On Sunday, January 29, Drake made a birthday dedication post to his mother who had just turned 75 years old, by using the lyrics of Sizzla Kalonji’s Thank You Mama song to represent his feelings.
Sizzla, whose birth name is Miguel Orlando Collins, first released the song 12 years ago on May 11, 2010. Released by VP Records, the music video shot to the heights of popularity and garnered over 70 thousand likes and 10 million views on Youtube.
The post by Drake started with him referring to his mother’s age and then stating, “Thank you mama for the 9 months you carried me through…all the pain and suffering. No one knows the pressure you bear just only you…give you all my love.” He topped off the dedication by giving credit to Sizzla by simply stating his name, “Kalonji.”
The Hotline Bling artiste also uploaded a few pictures of himself (Aubrey Drake Graham), his son (Adonis Mahbed Graham), and his mom (Sandi Graham). The Canadian rapper and his son wore matching grey suits and cornrows, while his mother wore a black dress with her hair in loose waves and a bang.
Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, is also included in a black-and-white family photo.
