Thompson-Herah will be running at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic, at Hayward Field in Eugene, at the University of Oregon. Notably, Thompson-Herah the reigning 100m and 200m Olympic champion ran her fastest time over the 100m distance 10.54s, clocked back in 2021 also in Eugene.

Sha’Carri Richardson who is the reigning world champion earlier opened her season over the 200m distance, however, Saturday’s race will be her first 100m of the season. On the other hand, this will be Thompson-Herah’s first race of the season, it’s unclear when she will open her 200m season.

This race will serve as preparation as Thompson-Herah seeks to pull off a triple-double-double at the 2024 Paris Olympics this summer. Elaine currently holds the 100m record in the Olympics with a time of 10.61 which was set at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan.

The international multi-sport event is scheduled to take place in a few months, from the 26th of July to the 11th of August.
