Erica Mena Fired from Love and Hip-Hop After Calling Spice a “Monkey”

Actress and Reality TV star Ericka Mena has been fired from VH1’s Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta following her statements referring to the Queen of Dancehall Spice as a “Monkey”.
Mena, who was recently arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer during a club brawl, made the statements during a heated confrontation with the Jamaican artiste on the reality show’s latest episode. The slur followed Spice’s statements that Mena’s eldest child hated her.
Amid the ongoing social media criticism of Mena’s on-camera outburst, her exit from the popular reality show was announced on Saturday on the official Love and Hip-Hop Instagram page.
The short statement issued by the show’s organizers said that the franchise had never avoided difficult conversations and had come to the decision to remove Mena from the show’s future season effective immediately.
Though Mena will not appear in the next season, the show’s viewers will see the aftermath of her statements in the remaining three episodes of the current season of Love and Hip-Hop. Neither Mena nor Spice has reacted to the news of her departure from the show, but the news has since gone viral, with viewers speaking in defence and against Mena.
Some shared the view that Spice’s decision to involve Mena’s child meant that she was free to respond in any way she wished. But others accused Mena of making racist remarks on multiple occasions.
“This is not an isolated incident for her. When she feels attacked in any way, she resorts to racial remarks,” one viewer stated.
