Father of Dancehall Artiste Topmann “Iyah Syte” Dies in St. James Bus Accident

The father of dancehall artiste Topmann, born Jamario Hines, has passed away following an accident in Long Hill, St. James, on Thursday.

Topmann, known for songs such as Gyal Code, has spoken about his father, 50-year-old Dillon “Iyah Syte” Hines, on multiple occasions. Topmann’s passion for music was first sparked by Hines, who was an artiste himself and would bring him to his performances as well as the studio.

According to reports, Hines was one of several passengers travelling from Cambridge to Montego Bay in a bus that veered off the road and into a 500-foot ravine. The area was experiencing extremely bad weather at the time of the accident, which impeded rescue efforts by first responders.

Four students were also damaged during Thursday’s accident. In a photo taken from the scene of the accident, the bus Hines was travelling in can be seen badly damaged at the bottom of the ravine.
