Female Officer Implicated In Rape Case

Charged in relation to an alleged case of robbery and rape is a female constable of police Lavern Hendricks. The ongoing investigation is taking place in Black River, St Elizabeth.

Hendricks (44), has been charged with misconduct in a public office and attempting to pervert the course of justice. Another member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Constable of Police Alwayne Hill, was reportedly charged with corruptly soliciting and simple larceny, forcible abduction, grievous sexual assault, and rape relating to the same incident.

It is alleged that Mr. Hill solicited money from a female motorist who breached the road traffic act on June 30. She was allegedly sexually assaulted by Hill after he took her to an ATM to get the money he was soliciting in exchange for not prosecuting her.

Hendricks, from Ginger Hill, St Elizabeth, was reportedly on duty when the woman went to report the incident. The female officer told the woman that she should accept money in exchange for lying about her statement. She allegedly gave false information to her colleagues who then launched an investigation afterwards.

A senior investigator prepared a case file and submitted it to the DPP. Both Hendricks and Hill were recommended to be charged by the DPP. Hendricks’ court date is pending.
