Many people gathered at the Half Way Tree Transport Centre Tuesday morning due to a strange scene unfolding that included a man who had climbed up on top of the structure.
The man stood on top of the Transport Centre shirtless, with a helmet on his head, the Jamaican flag in one hand, and something burning in the other. Footage of the individual, identified as Sergeant Leo Bennett, a member of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, has been circulating on the internet.
The initial report states that Bennett went on the Transport Authority Transport Centre roof requesting better welfare for firefighters and saying, “no retreat, no surrender.”
“Good morning, daybreak atop of the Half Way Tree Transport Centre, highlighting the need for welfare for the firefighters,” Bennett said while videoing himself. “We need a better Jamaica.”
