Footage Shows Deplorable Conditions Inside Jamaican Prison: Video
Footage recorded by a Jamaican prisoner has revealed the deplorable conditions inside a local prison.
As cell phones are prohibited, the prisoner did not reveal himself in the recording and received complaints from a fellow prisoner as he revealed the conditions inside. In the video, a large section of the roof, which is in need of repairs, can be seen.
Apparently suffering from leaks, large pieces of tarpaulin are being used on the roof to keep the rain from reaching the prisoners below. The video also showed sections of the concrete roofing breaking away, revealing the steel within.
Reacting to the video, some viewers expressed that the men do not deserve better as they are convicted criminals.
“If your in prison and you were convicted justly for a crime you did. I don’t want to hear 💩 from y’all about prison conditions. I will always take the innocent victims side ✌🏽. It’s called prison your not suppose to like it,” one viewer wrote.
However, some viewers highlighted that these living conditions can cause or worsen health problems, such as with Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel, who suffered from Graves’ disease while in prison.
“Nuh that’s why kartel did swell up! Infection and disease nuh must kill yuh in deh desso??!!” the viewer wrote.
