Footage of a French student threatening his teacher with a toy gun during a classroom lecture has resurfaced online. The incident had ignited massive backlash in the European country, with French President Emmanuel Macron speaking out against the student’s actions.
The footage was seemingly filmed by one of the teen’s classmates, who can be heard laughing as the boy approaches the seated teacher with the toy gun. The teacher appears to point him back to his seat, but the 15-year-old persists and points the gun directly at her head while another student appears on camera to give the middle finger.
The teen was reportedly instructing his teacher to mark him present.
“You’ve marked me absent. Mark me as present,” the student is said to have demanded in the video.
The incident was later reported to the police by the teacher, and the teen was charged with aggravated violence. He admitted to using an air gun but said it was intended to be a joke.
Viewers condemned the boy’s actions, with one recommending military service as jail would be useless. Sympathising with the teacher, one viewer compared the teen’s actions to psychological torture.
