Former Prime Minister Portia Lucretia Simpson-Miller was rushed to a hospital in the Corporate Area on Thursday night.
Reports state that the former leader of the People’s National Party (PNP) was taken to the Andrew’s Memorial Hospital in St. Andrew last night and was admitted in serious condition. What initiated Simpson-Miller’s sudden illness is not yet known, but she is reportedly responding to treatment.
Simpson-Miller served as Jamaica’s 7th Prime Minister and was the first woman to hold the office. She served as Prime Minister of Jamaica from March 2006 to September 2007 and again from January 2012 to March 2016. Simpson-Miller retired from representational politics in 2017.
