An unidentified man, despite prior knowledge of the ban on swimming in the water, was allegedly killed after being attacked by a crocodile. The huge creature reportedly dragged the body down a drain in Tampico Tamaulipas, Mexico.
Initial reports stated that the 25 to 30-year-old was killed in Laguna del Carpintero, however, no identification was found on the body.
Descriptions of the incident from individuals at the scene recounted that the deceased man would have had to access the water knowing that entrance was not allowed by authorities because of the presence of reptile activity.
The crocodile said to be up to 18 feet long, reportedly attacked, killed, and hauled the man down a storm drain located on Arenal Street. The body can be seen wedged in between the teeth of the animal between the upper torso and underarm as he was continuously dragged away.
When the incident was made known to the different emergency corporations, firefighters made it to the scene, and to retrieve the body, they had to detach a sewer. Following multiple manoeuvres, they were finally able to dislodge the man from the reptile and overpowered it.
Footage of the incident was uploaded online where many different thoughts on the matter were relayed in the comments. An individual stated, “Someone murder that man and threw him in the water. There’s more to this story”. The video was not uploaded in English but a commenter briefly said, “Is that the coroner at the beginning? Bro said I’ll snap a couple photos and my job is done 🤣🤣🤣.”
