Jamaica’s most popular prison the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre aka ‘GP’ that’s located in Kingston is currently not accepting any form of Visits until further notice. In a report Superintendent Ivan Randall confirmed this decision to be as a result of the two large escape holes found by prison authorities a couple days ago. Ivan stated that investigations are currently being carried out.

While many visitors turned up today to give their love ones food and necessities, none was allowed to enter the complex. One of the many visitors Jennifer Smith said that “It is really messed up. There are over 1,500 inmates there and it’s unfair to cut off all of those who had nothing to do with the holes that they discovered”
Jennifer stated that her boyfriend is currently on a 10-year sentence for robbery, She was very upset when her visit was not allowed.
“When you have someone behind bars, a spouse especially, you depend on these visits to see them physically. Although you can’t touch them, just seeing them waving at you or blowing you a kiss is enough to remind you that they are supporting you. It’s motivation,” Smith said.
“Not every inmate is a hardcore heartless killer. Some just made a mistake in the heat of the moment, while some are just misguided. But they are humans too,” she said.
Jennifer hopes that the visitation ban will be lifted soon, because she and other are missing their love-ones who are currently locked-up.
