Gunman Fatally Shoot Clarendon Woman In Head; Husband Escaped In Bushes

Melissa Claire Wright, a 42-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head by gunmen at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at her home in the Cumberland district of Spalding, Clarendon.
According to police reports, the deceased and her husband were at home when attackers entered and demanded an undisclosed sum of money. When the couple was unable to provide the amount requested, Claire-Wright was shot in the head.
The husband reportedly escaped into the bushes after being pursued by the gunmen. He received no injuries.
Claire-Wright was subsequently rushed to the hospital by police officers where she was pronounced dead.
Investigations are ongoing on the matter.
