Here’s why Riverton Landfill is on fire again

[Sharingbuttons]The landfill facility at Riverton has been on fire for 3 days and all the persons who are in charge of the operations at the dump had a meeting and they spoke about their plans to put out the fire and look at the cause of the fire.

Mr. Dennis Chung the chairman of the NSWMA spoke about the amount of money that the taxpaying Jamaicans have been put out fires at the dump in Montego Bay and other places.

There has been some investigation and the system that was set up by the fire department to fight the Riverton fire by leading water from the Duhaney River to the dump was tampered with before the fire started blazing.

This discovery caused the Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie to believe that the persons who have the equipment that is used to put out fires are deliberately lighting the fires so they can earn from it.

The Jamaica Defense Force had sene soldiers to assist with putting out the fire, but the visibility was poor and there was nothing they could do.

The area that was affected by the fire in Riverton, Kingston is covered now and we are hoping that there will be a change in the way the dumps are managed soon.
