Isat Buchanan Says Vybz Kartel is Protected by the Constitution and Talks Compensation

Vybz Kartel’s lead attorney Isat Buchanan sat down and had a chat with Lisa Evers of Fox-5 on the latest episode of ‘Streets Soldiers’ show which is jointly done with Hot97. The interview which surrounds Vyb z Kartel’s release and future plans was published on Monday, August 19.
“I knew that the conviction was unsafe, i knew that this was something i think i was ordained to do, i believe in God,” Buchanon says as he recalls the journey.
With regards to his freedom going forward as it relates to the case, Buchanan details that, “section 69 of Jamaica’s constitution says, listen double jeopardy is attached, tough luck for you and they are protected by the constitution.”
Buchanan was asked whether or not Vybz Kartel would be seeking compensation after not being given a fair trial and was subsequently acquitted. Buchanan answered by stating that the team was awarded costs as it relates to recent court proceedings including the appeal at the Privy Council.
Without answering the question directly, he expressed the Jamaica people would not be able to cover the burden of a full-on lawsuit, “i don’t think he want to bankrupt the country.” He went on to state that the deejay is going to make “way more” more money in the future.
