Jamaica Beats Guadeloupe 2-1

The Reggae Boy played against Caribbean opponent Guadeloupe moments ago in the second match of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup. Guadeloupe went ahead shortly after the match started in the 4th minute of the match. The ball ended up in the back of the net via a deflected shot from a Guadeloupe striker.

Jamaica scored shortly after via a shot from Cory Burke in the 14th minute of the match. Leon Bailey managed to chip the keeper and got the ball in the back of the net, however that goal was ruled offside.

It has been a frustrating tournament so far for 23 years old Leon Bailey who is Jamaica’s star player at club level. Despite a disappointing start to the match, Bailey managed to get an assist after passing the ball to Junior Flemmings in the 87 minute of the match, Flemings managed to beat two Guadeloupe players before placing the ball neatly between the legs of the Guadeloupe keeper.

Jamaica played the better football and created more chances throughout the match, however, Guadeloupe carved out a few impressive chances of their own with Andrew Blake possibly pulling off the save of the tournament.

Currently the Reggae Boyz tops Group C with 6 points.

The match, Jamaica vs Guadeloupe kicked off at 5:30 pm (Jamaica time) today, Friday, July 16th at the Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

The Reggae Boyz won their first match of the cup, which was a 2-0 win over Suriname while Guadeloupe loss their first match 3-1 to Costa Rica.

According to Fifa, Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz currently ranks 45th worldwide.
