Jamaica Vs Mexico Ended 2-2 in CONCACAF Nations League Decider – Watch Highlights

In a match which started as a must-win for the Jamaican team against their old CONCACAF rivals Mexico, Jamaica was battling for a spot in the next round of the CONCACAF Nations League.

The match lived up to its billing as the Reggae Boyz was the quickest out the blocks, pressing the home team high up the park and creating some dangerous chances early on, culminating with Bobby Reid’s wonder goal from about 30 yards out.

The thousands of Mexican fans in the Estadio Azteca were stunned into silence following Bobby Reid’s early strike in the 7th minute. However, after some great play from the home team, Pineda struck back from close range.

Mexico was dominant in possession, but the Reggae Boyz was creating more threats in the final third, as the Mexican defenders were left flat-footed once again when Alvarez unintentionally scored inside his net to put the Reggae Boyz in the lead.

After climatic weather interrupted play a few minutes past the half-hour mark, as if there was not enough drama already in the opening half hour of the match, Mexico kicked started the restart on the front foot, cutting open the Jamaican defence on numerous occasions which resulted in a penalty being awarded to the home team in the 45th minute, Napoli forward Lozana stepped up and converted to tie the match 2-2.

Following the action-packed first half, the second half did not provide half as much drama, with both sides cancelling each other’s persistent attacks, a half punctuated by missed chances, which saw Mexico hitting the bar and Wolves striker Raul Jimenez missing a few sitters.

On the other end of the pitch, Jamaica had numerous clear-cut opportunities but failed to capitalize, both sides brought on several substitutes but were unsuccessful in finding a winner.

The 2-2 result was enough for Mexico to advance to the next stage of the competition. However, the Reggae Boyz, on the other hand, will see this as a chance spurned to grab all three points after being presented with numerous golden moments to find a winning goal.
