Jamaican Swimmer Sabrina Lyn Wants to ‘Break National Record’ at Olympics – Video
Jamaican female swimmer Sabrina Lyn has high hopes for the Paris Olympic Games which kicks off on July 26. This will be her first Olympics, despite detailing that she will be looking to learn from others at the games, she is looking to outperform her previous best.
Lyn qualified after outperforming fellow Jamaican teammates Emily McDonald and Jessica Calderbank to take the only spot that was available. According to Lyn, she will be doing her best to make not just the nation proud but also her teammates who did not get to make it to Paris proud.
In an interview done with The Gleaner, Lyn disclosed that she will remain on the island for extra days to do more training, hence she did not travel with the large group of Jamaican athletes who are already in Paris.
She welcomed the extra few days of training in Jamaica, saying it is “really important” because if she’s not “comfortable” she will not be able to swim as well as she can and she’s most comfortable at home, “I will be there for the meet but i won’t be there before the meet,” Lyn stated.
Lyn will be competing in the 50-metre freestyle on August 3. Sabrina Lyn is the second fastest Jamaican female of all time behind Alia Atkinson. Lyn outlined that aside from making it to the final, another goal of hers is to break the national record in Paris.
“Right now i am really focused on just trying to swim my best and doing what i need to do,” says Lyn. Lyn who is the first Olympian in her family detailed that her family is extremely proud of her accomplishment.
