Jamaican Woman Killed in Georgia by Boyfriend

Shanae Smith, a 23-year-old Jamaican residing in Lithonia, Georgia, tragically passed away after being shot in the head on Saturday.

Smith, celebrated for her kind heart and cheerful nature, had moved to the US in 2022 and was living with her boyfriend, Kahire Schloss, both are from Old Harbour, St Catherine.

The incident occurred under harrowing circumstances. Smith’s mother, Taneisha Williams, reported receiving a distressing call at 1:39 p.m. from Schloss on the day, on the call he reportedly confessed to the shooting.

Following the gunshot, Schloss’s 17-year-old brother discovered Smith and immediately contacted emergency services, who arrived on the scene shortly after. Despite medical efforts, Smith succumbed to her injuries by 5 p.m. that same day.

As of the last reports, there were conflicting statements regarding whether Schloss had been apprehended by the authorities.

The incident has left Smith’s family and friends in profound shock and mourning, with her cousin Karayan Holt stepping in to speak with the doctors on behalf of a distraught Williams.
