Kartel Criticizes Jamaica’s Justice System and High Murder Rate

In a post that was made on his official Instagram page recently, the incarcerated dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel who is charged for murder, has criticized the authorities, he believes they have not adequately addressed the national murder rate, with over 1,000 homicides annually in recent years.
It is not known if the post was written by Kartel or his handlers, but the same account that was used to respond to Kartel’s daughter, who had posted this “🤔 every little girl needs their father… 💔 #FreeMyFather #FreeWorldBoss”, on her own page.

Kartel hoped his verdict would have been handed down in time for him to be free for Christmas, but it didn’t happen.
This comment was written below a screenshot of Kartel’s daughter’s post on his IG page, “Just keep holding it my Princess. Your father doesn’t bow to nuh bwoy nor gyal, so everybody a try prove.”
In criticizing the authorities Kartel said, the authorities were unable to solve other murders in Jamaica, but they were acting like they cared about Clive “Lizard” Williams, when over 1000 Jamaicans are killed every year and they can’t solve those cases.
He also said “So nuh watch ntn Prinny, di whole world see seh dem a clown, and history will… on their memory. (Expletive) BOASTY SLAVE!!!”
Other dancehall and Reggae artistes offered him support and the post had over 1700 comments from many of his fans also.
A report from the Court of Appeal had stated that preparation of the judgement on Kartel’s appeal of his murder conviction was at an advanced stage. All parties will be duly informed as soon as the court is ready. This was a part of the answer when Queens Counsel Tom Tavares Finson, who is the lead attorney in the case, recently inquired about the long delay in handing down judgement.
He got a letter from the Appeal Court judges, which was dated, December 2.
Kartel was convicted alongside, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John for the murder of their colleague, Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.
The four accused men were given life sentences at the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston. Vybz Kartel is eligible for parole after 35 years behind bars. His co-accused, St John, will do 30 years before being considered for parole, while Jones and Campbell are required to serve 25 years before they can be allowed to be released on parole.
The appeal judgement, which could change all that, and cause them to be free, is expected to be handed down early next year, since this year is almost finished.
