Even though there was a struggle in the first half of the game, and Manchester City was not able to score, they broke that spell in the last 45 minutes as they were able to secure their 3 winning goals, after Chelsea had kicked one in with Sam Kerr in the 33rd minute.

The high-intensity Continental League Cup was played at the Cherry Red Records Stadium and saw many City fans in the stands in an eclectic mood as Caroline Weir equalized 48th minute to restore hopes to her team.

Manchester City then set their intentions even clearer in the 57th minute when Lauren Hemp took a shot that could not be contained by the Chelsea keeper, only to find Ellen White catching the rebound and finding the back of the net.

City went on to secure the win totally when Caroline Weir capitalized on a corner kick in the 69th minute to push her side in the lead.

In the 87th minute, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw was allowed to grace the field and get a taste of the finals as she replaced goalscorer Ellen White, to close out the match.

Based on a report from BBC.co.uk, Chelsea’s manager Emma Hayes spoke to the fact that the better side had won on the day even though Manchester City’s female team has been beaten by their opposition a total of 10 times in the past.
